Turkey conducts major anti-smuggling and money laundering operations

Turkish authorities have conducted a series of large-scale operations targeting drug trafficking, smuggling, and money laundering across multiple provinces.

In a major crackdown on money laundering, the Ministry of Interior announced that approximately 5 billion TL in assets were seized following a year-long investigation. The operation, centered in Hakkari's Yüksekova district, extended to Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and Van, resulting in the seizure of 148 real estate properties and 17 vehicles.

Customs enforcement teams conducted five separate operations at the Sarp, İpsala, and Kapıkule border gates during September. These operations led to the seizure of hundreds of thousands of units of pregabalin and fenobarbital, as well as significant quantities of cannabis, skunk, and MDMB.

Regional law enforcement also reported significant successes. In Tekirdağ, gendarmerie operations resulted in 41 arrests and the seizure of various narcotics, weapons, and counterfeit goods. In Ordu, a clandestine weapon manufacturing facility was dismantled, leading to two arrests. Additionally, in Antalya, a gendarmerie operation in the Aksu and Manavgat districts led to the seizure of 3 kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of one suspect.
