Tekirova coast marine protection and restoration efforts begin
Fieldwork has commenced on the Tekirova coast in Kemer, Antalya, to protect and restore the marine ecosystem. This initiative is part of the Antalya Blue Mediterranean Initiative, following a cooperation protocol signed between the Antalya Governorship and the Marine Life Protection Association (DYKD).
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin stated that biologists and scientists are currently monitoring underwater life, identifying biodiversity, and conducting mapping studies. The collected biological data will be recorded digitally in the ‘Mavi Atlas’ system to make it available to the scientific community.
In addition to monitoring, the project includes active restorative restoration efforts. To support these conservation goals, a legal protection mechanism has been established, which includes a ban on fishery activities in the Üç Adalar area.
