BRS launches Telangana campaign on unemployment and attacks Congress over water rollout

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) announced a statewide public meeting called “Yuva Sangrama Sadassu” for 18 July at Saroornagar Stadium in Hyderabad. Senior BRS leaders, including working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) and senior MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav, said the event will give unemployed youth a platform to demand the Congress government fulfill promises made in its 2023 Youth Declaration, and to press for recruitment to vacant government posts.

In parallel, BRS officials have accused the Congress‑led state administration of deliberately blocking the lifting of Godavari water through the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. KTR alleged a “Congress‑BJP nexus” that keeps tens of TMCs of water flowing unused into the sea, harming farmers and threatening a drought‑related drinking‑water crisis. He called the NDSA report used to justify the inaction “not an NDSA report but a Shikhandi Report”. BRS leader Harish Rao echoed the criticism, warning that the government’s refusal to operate the Kannepalli pump house is endangering crops and has political motives. The party indicated that if the water issue is not resolved, it will consider a statewide agitation under party president K. Chandra Shekhar Rao.
