Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy seeks central support for Scheduled Castes

On July 13, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy met with National Scheduled Castes Commission chair K. Makwana and urged the Union government to provide additional support for the development of Scheduled Castes in the state. Reddy said the state government is already offering opportunities that exceed the community’s demographic share and highlighted programmes aimed at eradicating caste‑based discrimination in schools.

He detailed initiatives such as the construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools on 25 acre plots in every assembly constituency, set to open in the next academic year, and the expansion of Telangana Public Schools that provide meals, transport and education from nursery to class 12, especially in urban areas. The meeting also covered the implementation of caste classification and other socio‑economic empowerment measures.
