Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy blames centre for low crop procurement, touts Musi river project

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the Union government has procured less than 30% of the state’s harvested paddy, maize and other crops, leaving the state to purchase the remainder. He noted that the centre’s only action was to announce a Minimum Support Price. The state is offering a Rs 500 bonus per quintal for fine‑variety paddy and a maize MSP, while citing a shortage of loaders caused by West Bengal elections and heat‑wave conditions that slowed procurement.

Reddy also briefed a CPM delegation on the Musi Rejuvenation Project, describing plans to transform the riverfront into a tourist destination, create substantial youth employment, and provide housing for displaced residents. He criticised opposition parties for politicising the scheme and highlighted rising pollution affecting Nalgonda district. The meeting covered education reforms, including nutritious meals, new public schools and the Minimum Wages Amendment Act aimed at improving schooling for poorer children.
