Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy secures defence land for Gandhi Sarovar project and honors Prof. Jayashankar
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for granting permission to use about 84 acres of defence land at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad for the Gandhi Sarovar project, a centerpiece of the state’s Musi River rejuvenation plan. The approval, conveyed in a letter dated 18 June, values the land at roughly ₹533 crore and allows the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation to develop the site into an educational, cultural and environmental landmark.
In a separate ceremony, the chief minister paid tribute to Professor K. Jayashankar, often called the “father of Telangana”, on the anniversary of his death. Reddy recalled Jayashankar’s role in the movement for a separate Telangana state and pledged to continue his legacy, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the ideals of the state‑hood struggle.
