Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy pledges to press ahead with Bharat Future City despite opposition

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on 19 June that the state will continue building the Bharat Future City, a 30,000‑acre "state‑of‑the‑art" development on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He launched the "Vanamahotsavam‑2026" programme at Gurramgunda in Rangareddy district and said the project will invite global investors, feature a 15,000‑acre forest covering 60 % of the area, and include extensive green infrastructure.

Reddy criticised the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for demanding that only pharmaceutical firms be allowed in the city and for filing legal challenges in the High Court and National Green Tribunal. He also linked the Future City to broader initiatives such as the Musi River rejuvenation, lake‑reclamation, and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) efforts to clear encroachments.

The CM emphasized that completing the project will boost Hyderabad’s status as a global, livable city and urged the public to support the development against what he described as baseless opposition.
