Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Announces pensions, overseas job aid and $3 trillion economy plan
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that pensions will be granted to all patients with thalassemia and sickle‑cell anaemia from 15 August, and that the scheme will also cover widows, single women, weavers, toddy‑tappers and the widows of differently‑abled persons. He directed officials to identify beneficiaries immediately and to accelerate village‑level development, including black‑top roads, new panchayat buildings and quality saree distribution.
Reddy said the state‑run Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) will help youth seeking jobs abroad by providing training, job fairs, passport services and agreements with foreign manpower agencies, with a former IFS officer to be appointed as its CEO. He also proposed a research centre and foreign‑language programmes at the Young India Skills University.
The chief minister unveiled an ambitious economic roadmap, targeting a $1 trillion economy by 2037 and $3 trillion by 2047. Central to the plan is the 30,000‑acre Bharat Future City, intended to attract 500 Fortune Global companies and compete with global hubs such as Tokyo and New York. He pledged rapid approvals, regular industry‑government meetings and direct access for investors.
Reddy sparked controversy by calling the current engineering education system a “criminal waste” and announced a special programme to improve skills of government engineering college students. Former Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao highlighted the state’s rapid growth, noting GDP rose from about Rs 5 lakh crore in 2014 to Rs 18 lakh crore in 2026 and per‑capita income moved to third place nationally.
