Telangana CM Revanth Reddy seeks 1.156 million PMAY‑G houses, rural jobs boost
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi and asked the Centre to allocate 11,56,915 houses to the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana‑Gramin (PMAY‑G) scheme. He said a state survey using the Union Ministry’s “Awaas+” app had identified that many rural families remain unserved because the previous BRS government did not fully utilise the scheme.
Reddy also requested the inclusion of ten new livelihood and land‑development activities under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB‑G‑RAM‑G) to mitigate the impact of El Niño‑related drought. Proposed works cover vegetable trellises, fodder plots, mulberry cultivation, silkworm‑rearing sheds, kitchen gardens, bamboo plantations, water‑harvesting trenches, moisture‑conservation trenches and flood‑damage restoration, aimed at Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, small and marginal farmers and agricultural labourers.
In addition, the Chief Minister noted that pharma firms Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. and Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. had provided roughly Rs 22 crore in corporate‑social‑responsibility funds for a school breakfast programme, signalling the state’s broader effort to support vulnerable communities.
