Telangana CM Revanth Reddy urges voter roll completion before Hyderabad municipal polls

Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy actively participated in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, personally submitting his own form in Kodangal and calling on voters and Booth Level Officers to finish the registration process. He warned that attempts to delete eligible names could affect the Congress party's prospects.

The state government has split the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation into three bodies—GHMC, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri—and indicated that municipal elections are likely to be announced once the SIR exercise concludes. Recent reports show Hyderabad lagging in digitising enumeration forms, with only about 44% completed, the second‑lowest rate in Telangana. The Chief Electoral Officer has ordered district officers to accelerate digitisation, especially in urban areas. These developments suggest that finalising voter rolls is a prerequisite for the upcoming local polls.
