Telangana Congress Accused by BRS of Housing and Water Mismanagement

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders have charged the Congress-led Telangana government with breaking promises on two major welfare initiatives. BRS leader Manne Krishank said the promised "Free Indiramma Houses" were being turned into a pay‑for‑service scheme, with beneficiaries asked to pay about Rs 6 lakh for homes that were campaigned as free, and an additional Rs 10,000 application fee. He warned that failure to deliver even a single house before upcoming municipal elections would strip the Congress of any moral right to seek votes.

Separately, BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao alleged that the drought affecting parts of Warangal district was engineered by the Congress government. He claimed the administration deliberately left water pumps at the Devadula Lift Irrigation Project idle, lifting only 1.9 TMC of water instead of the near‑12 TMC capacity, while water flowed downstream to Andhra Pradesh. Rao said the neglect, not the El Niño phenomenon, caused farmer protests and unnecessary water scarcity.

Both leaders framed the issues as betrayals of public trust and warned of political fallout if the promised services are not delivered.
