Telangana faces prolonged heat and dry spell through July 22

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that hot and humid conditions will continue across Telangana, with temperatures reaching up to 38.9 °C in Nalgonda and strong surface winds of 30‑40 km/h expected in many districts.

A severe rainfall deficit is developing, especially in Hanamkonda where the deficit has hit 65%, far above the normal 20% range for July. The monsoon trough remains unfavourable for widespread rain, and only isolated light showers or drizzle are forecast for the next three days. The dry spell is projected to persist until around July 22, despite a low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
