Telangana farmers protest as KTR blames Congress for procurement stall

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) issued an open letter accusing the Congress‑led Telangana government of mishandling the state's crop procurement system. He claims the administration dismantled welfare measures introduced by the previous government, failed to supply fertiliser and gunny bags, and prioritized political trips to Delhi over farmer needs.

KTR says farmers have been waiting for up to two months at procurement centres with no grain purchases, leading to daily protests, road blockades and instances of farmers collapsing or dying from heatstroke and stress. He alleges that, unable to sell their produce, farmers are burning paddy on roads, creating visible piles of ash that he describes as evidence of the government's incompetence. The accusations highlight a widening agrarian crisis in Telangana, with KTR demanding immediate procurement of stored crops and compensation for affected families.
