Telangana government activates irrigation pumps and pledges Rs 5,000 crore for projects
The Telangana government has activated pumps at several locations under the Kalwakurthi Lift Irrigation Project following warnings from BRS leaders regarding water shortages in Mahabubnagar. BRS leaders had issued an ultimatum to address delays in lifting water despite availability in the Krishna River.
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has prioritized irrigation funding, assuring Rs 5,000 crore for land acquisition, rehabilitation, and resettlement works. Of this, Rs 2,000 crore has been released, with the remaining Rs 3,000 crore currently being processed to prevent project delays.
In separate political developments, BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress, BRS, and AIMIM of attempting to facilitate "backdoor" voting for illegal immigrants using Family Register Certificates during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Meanwhile, political leaders K. T. Rama Rao and G. Kishan Reddy participated in Bonalu festival prayers in Hyderabad.
