Telangana Government Faces Criticism Over Rs 30,000 cr Rythu Bharosa Disbursement Delay

BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) accused Telangana’s Congress administration of withholding nearly Rs 30,000 crore promised under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, alleging that loan waivers were not implemented and public events were prioritized over farmers’ needs. He claimed the government failed to release the assistance four times and denied the promised Rs 15,000 per acre.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao acknowledged that the state could not disburse the final instalment of about Rs 2,000 crore for the recent Rabi season because of cash‑flow constraints, after having transferred Rs 5,653 crore to 71.05 lakh small‑holder farmers in two earlier phases. The minister said the shortfall was partly offset by procuring maize and jowar at minimum support prices. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka defended the government’s overall farmer‑welfare record, citing debt repayment pressures and ongoing schemes such as farm‑loan waivers and free electricity.
