Telangana government orders probe into Assembly Speaker controversy

Tensions escalated in Telangana following controversial remarks made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLCs against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The remarks, which targeted the Speaker's Dalit identity, prompted protests by Congress workers at the farmhouse of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) in Erravalli.

During the demonstrations, clashes occurred between protesters and police, resulting in injuries to several officers. BRS leaders, including K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, attempted to reach the farmhouse but were detained by police. BRS leadership accused the government of using law enforcement to create instability and expressed concerns regarding KCR's security.

In response, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incidents. The Chief Minister characterized the events as a conspiracy by the BRS and stated that strict action would be taken under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He emphasized that the government stands firmly with the Speaker and will not tolerate insults against the Dalit community or the dignity of the Assembly.
