Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders under house arrest before Hyderabad youth rally
Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and former IPS officer‑turned‑BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar said they were placed under house arrest by Telangana police on the eve of the party’s Yuva Sangrama Sabha in Hyderabad. The rally, scheduled for July 18 at Saroornagar Stadium, is expected to draw about 10,000 youth and unemployed voters and is intended to highlight what the BRS calls the Congress government’s failure to fulfil election promises on jobs and student welfare.
The Telangana High Court had granted conditional permission for the meeting, directing the organizers to maintain law and order, avoid road blockades and refrain from provocative speeches. Police, citing intelligence reports of potential disturbances and inadequate parking, reportedly barred the two leaders from leaving their residences. The BRS condemned the action as unconstitutional and arbitrary, while working president K.T. Rama Rao praised the court’s order and said attempts to silence the youth had failed.
