Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy advances irrigation clearances and orders paddy audit
Following a Supreme Court judgment that clarified procedures for environmental clearances, Telangana Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy urged a time‑bound approach to secure pending approvals for the Palamuru‑Rangareddy, Sitaramasagar and Dindi lift irrigation projects and the Gouravelli project. He emphasized that projects with valid clearances must be protected, while rejected proposals should be re‑examined and resubmitted after correcting deficiencies.
In a separate meeting, the Civil Supplies Minister ordered a comprehensive audit of paddy procurement since the state's formation in 2014. The audit will examine rice milling operations, recoveries, quality, district‑wise defaults and other aspects of the Custom Milled Rice system, aiming to recover public funds and strengthen accountability in the Public Distribution System.
