Telangana political row erupts over BRS land ownership allegations
A political confrontation has intensified in Telangana between the ruling Congress party and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) over allegations of illegal land holdings and corruption.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has accused the KCR family and their relatives of holding approximately 440 acres of land across multiple districts, far exceeding the agricultural ceiling limit. In response, Congress leaders have conducted field inspections of various farmhouses in Aziznagar, Janwada, and Maddur, alleging that these properties were built on encroached government or assigned lands and used for illegal activities, including rave parties and drug use.
BRS leaders, including K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao, have denied these claims, asserting that all properties are declared in election affidavits and tax returns. They have accused the Congress government of being a ‘tyrannical regime’ and failing to address critical farmer issues, such as the release of water from the Jurala project to protect crops.
The BJP has criticized both parties, describing the ongoing dispute as a scripted ‘WWE drama’ and urging the government to take actual legal action rather than engaging in political theatrics.
