Telangana political feud intensifies: Congress seeks KTR apology, Harish Rao sues over defamation
The Indian National Congress demanded that K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), apologise for his remarks that described Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s “Bodhi Bhavan” as a “criminal waste.” Congress said the comment insulted the ideals of Lord Buddha and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and hurt Dalit sentiments.
In a separate dispute, senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao served defamation notices to Congress leaders Addanki Dayakar and Sama Ram Mohan Reddy, demanding an unconditional public apology for alleged false claims that he performed occult rituals at temples to prevent rainfall in Telangana. Harish Rao warned that civil and criminal defamation proceedings would be pursued if the notices were not withdrawn.
Both incidents highlight escalating political tensions between the BRS government and the opposition Congress in Telangana.
