Telangana RTC to launch electric auto service in Hyderabad

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will introduce electric autorickshaws to provide first‑ and last‑mile connectivity for bus commuters in Hyderabad. The pilot will allow passengers to book an auto ride together with their bus ticket, enabling a single‑ticket, point‑to‑point journey from home to the bus stop and from the destination stop to the final address. Officials are negotiating with electric‑vehicle manufacturers and expect to start the service after the procurement process is completed. The rollout will initially cover the Greater Hyderabad region and later expand to other major cities such as Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam and Nizamabad. Fares are planned to be lower than those of app‑based cabs, aiming to improve commuter convenience, increase public‑transport ridership and reduce road congestion.
