Telangana Secretariat employees protest over pending dues and pension reforms

Government employees in Telangana staged a protest at the Bahubali Gate of the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday. The demonstration was part of a broader statewide agitation led by the Telangana Employees’ Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC).

The protesters are demanding the immediate resolution of several long-standing financial and policy issues. Key grievances include the clearance of pending bills amounting to thousands of crores, the release of overdue Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears from the past two years, and the finalization of the 2nd Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations.

Additionally, employees raised concerns regarding the Employees Health Care Scheme (EHCS), seeking improved access to medical services for staff and retirees. The demonstration also included demands to scrap the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in favor of restoring the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Union representatives warned of intensified agitation across state administrative bodies if the government fails to address these demands through immediate discussions.
