Telangana weather alerts issued for heavy monsoon rains

The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have issued weather alerts for several districts in Telangana due to low pressure conditions over the Bay of Bengal. An orange alert has been issued for very heavy monsoon rains, while a yellow alert covers districts including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Peddapalli.

Forecasts indicate the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning across various regions. While some reports suggest the direct impact of the low pressure system may have shifted, scattered thunderstorms are expected in several areas including Medak, Siddipet, and Hyderabad City.

Recent rainfall data shows significant activity in certain areas, with Rebbena in Kumram Bheem Asifabad recording 9.35 cm. This increased precipitation has led to rising water inflows in the Vattivagu and Kumram Bheem projects. Despite recent rains, the current southwest monsoon season in Telangana shows a deficit, with the state receiving approximately 519.1 mm of rain against a normal of 649.9 mm.
