Telecinco launches new detective series “Romi”

Telecinco premiered the Spanish police drama Romi on Sunday, 26 July at 22:00. The series follows Romina “Romi” Goitia, a private investigator who lost her hearing at age six after a port explosion in Bilbao that killed her father. Her cochlear implant sharpens her ability to read micro‑gestures and connect clues.

Created by Iker Azkoitia (known from Élite) and directed by Inés París and María Cereceda, Romi was selected through the Showrunner: Aula de Ficción program of ESCAC and Mediaset España. Produced by Joko TV, a subsidiary of Producciones Mandarina, it was first released on Prime Video before moving to free‑to‑air on Telecinco. The show is filmed entirely on location in Bilbao and features a cast that includes María Cerezuela, Natalia Millán, Edurne Azkarate, Asier Etxeandia, Unax Ugalde, Elena Irureta and others.
