Spanish detective series Romi debut

In late July 2026 Telecinco launched the Spanish police drama Romi, a series set in Bilbao that follows deaf private investigator Romina “Romi” Goitia, whose hearing loss and heightened micro‑gesture perception stem from a childhood port explosion. Created by Iker Azkoitia and produced by Joko TV, the show was first released on Prime Video before its free‑to‑air broadcast at 22:00 on 26 July.

An interview with veteran actress Natalia Millán highlighted her role as Alaia, an Ertzaintza senior officer and mother of Romi, describing the personal challenges of portraying a family coping with loss and disability. Millán reflected on her long career in Spanish police dramas and emphasized her commitment to the new project.

Both pieces underline the series’ focus on a deaf protagonist, its Bilbao setting, and its dual distribution on Telecinco and Prime Video, marking the first major release for the show.
