Teledyne FLIR is highlighting advancements in integrated security and early fire detection technologies, focusing on the transition from reactive to predictive safety measures. Traditional fire detection methods, such as smoke and flame detectors, are inherently reactive because they require the presence of combustion by-products to trigger an alarm.
In contrast, fixed thermal imaging utilizes radiometric detectors to continuously measure temperature at every pixel. This allows for the identification of abnormal heat patterns—such as those from overheating lithium-ion batteries, loose electrical connections, or failing bearings—before smoke or flames appear. This capability provides operators with critical time to intervene and prevent incidents.
Furthermore, the company is demonstrating multi-layered security strategies for critical infrastructure.
