Teledyne LeCroy launches Voyager M4120 for USB4 120Gb/s analysis
Teledyne LeCroy has launched the Voyager M4120, a protocol analyzer designed to support the USB4 Version 2.0 specification. The device specifically enables the emulation and analysis of the new 120Gb/s asymmetric link configuration.
This asymmetric link technology allows for different lane speeds in each direction of a connection. For instance, a system can utilize three lanes to achieve up to 120Gb/s in one direction while using a single lane for 40Gb/s in the opposite direction. This capability is intended to support high-bandwidth applications such as real-time video processing via DisplayPort 2.1 Ultra-High Bit Rate (UHBR).
The Voyager M4120 provides visibility into how devices determine lane roles and speeds under actual workloads. It includes software features such as hierarchical views, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reporting, and automation APIs to assist engineering teams with debugging and verification. The tool maintains full backward compatibility with previous USB generations, including Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3.
