Telefónica develops AI pilots for the Spanish agri-food sector

Telefónica, through its business unit Telefónica Tech, has developed two pilot projects utilizing artificial intelligence to support the agri-food sector in Castilla y León, Spain. These projects are being implemented via the Datagia Digital Agri-food Platform, which is driven by the Technological Agricultural Institute of Castilla y León.

The first pilot, conducted in collaboration with the Carne de Ávila Regulatory Council, uses AI models to analyze historical data—including weight, age, sex, breed, and genetics—to recommend the optimal time for livestock to leave feedlots to maximize profitability.

The second pilot, developed for Santa Teresa Gourmet, focuses on helping food companies anticipate product demand and improve production planning by leveraging shared data from other companies within the sector.
