Telekom expands fiber optic infrastructure in Germany
Telekom is advancing its fiber optic infrastructure projects across Germany, with significant developments in Allershausen and Baden-Württemberg. In Allershausen, the company has commenced the installation of 15 kilometers of fiber optic cables, aiming to serve approximately 1,400 households and businesses by the end of 2028.
In the state of Baden-Württemberg, Telekom’s expansion efforts have contributed to 15 of the 17 municipalities honored in the ‘Gigabitkommune@BW’ awards. The company has either completed or is currently implementing construction projects in 833 of the 1,101 municipalities within the state. If booked, these services could potentially reach 1.8 million households and businesses. Major urban centers such as Stuttgart, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, and Freiburg are among the locations with high numbers of available Telekom fiber optic connections.
Baden-Württemberg’s Minister for the Interior and Digitalization, Manuel Hagel, noted that high-performance networks are essential for the future competitiveness of locations, strengthening businesses, administrations, and citizens.
