Teleradio-Moldova candidates face security scrutiny

Two candidates, Dorin Scobioală and Ecaterina Cheptănaru, have been declared compatible to serve as the Director General of the public company Teleradio-Moldova following security checks by the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS). They will proceed to the interview stage of the selection process.

However, the status of other candidates, Andrei Zapșa and Sergiu Sandulescu, remains uncertain. The SIS identified risk factors regarding these two individuals, prompting the TRM Supervisory Board to allow them an opportunity to address these concerns in a future meeting. The Board is scheduled to decide on their reconfirmation in the competition on September 2.

The selection process was previously suspended in July after the SIS requested additional verifications, citing security developments and the intensification of hybrid warfare actions targeting the national information space. The vacancy for the position arose following the resignation of former Director General Vlad Țurcanu.
