Teleradio-Moldova leadership selection security vetting

Overview

The selection process for a new general director of Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) was postponed following a request from the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS). SIS Director Alexandru Musteața stated that additional background checks were necessary due to the “intensification of hybrid warfare,” specifically regarding disinformation and external interference targeting Moldova’s information space.

Following these security verifications, two candidates, Dorin Scobioală and Ecaterina Cheptănaru, were declared compatible to proceed to the interview stage. However, the status of candidates Andrei Zapșa and Sergiu Sandulescu remains uncertain after the SIS identified risk factors. The TRM Supervisory Board scheduled a meeting for September 2 to allow these individuals to address the concerns and to decide on their continued participation in the competition.
