Teleradio-Moldova director selection postponed for security vetting

The Supervisory Board of Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) has postponed the interview stage of the competition to appoint a new general director. The decision follows a request from the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) to conduct additional background checks on the candidates.

SIS Director Alexandru Musteața argued that the measure is necessary due to the intensification of hybrid warfare, specifically disinformation campaigns and external interference targeting Moldova’s information space. The SIS proposed that the list of candidates be submitted for competency and security verifications to prevent any risks to state security. As a result of this request, the four candidates admitted to the competition will be required to complete a questionnaire prepared by the SIS.
