Teletón initiative promotes disability inclusion in Mexico

Established in Mexico in 1997, the Teletón initiative has evolved from a national fundraising campaign into a significant social movement focused on the rights of people with disabilities. Beyond its medical and assistance purposes, the initiative has worked to address physical, cultural, and emotional barriers that previously marginalized individuals with disabilities.

The program has developed a network of Teletón Child Rehabilitation and Inclusion Centers (CRIT), which provide specialized care, physical therapies, and psychological support. These centers aim to improve autonomy and quality of life, shifting the societal perception of disability from one of compassion to one of dignity, rights, and equal opportunity.
