Heatwaves forecasted across Brazil and Portugal
Multiple regions in Brazil and Portugal are bracing for rising temperatures and dry conditions.
In Brazil, several areas are expecting significant heat. Rio Preto may reach 36°C by Saturday, accompanied by low humidity levels between 35% and 40%. In Aquidauana and Anastácio, temperatures are projected to climb toward 36°C by Sunday, with a possibility of thunderstorms. Acre is also seeing warm weather with highs around 35°C, while Araguari in Minas Gerais faces high UV indices and humidity levels dropping as low as 15%.
In Portugal, a warm air mass is expected to cause a gradual temperature increase. The IPMA warns of a potential heatwave, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching 38°C in the Alentejo and Vale do Tejo regions. While coastal areas may remain more moderate due to maritime influence, much of the mainland will see temperatures exceeding 30°C. This warming trend is attributed to an anticyclone north of the Azores, which is transporting warm, dry continental air over the Iberian Peninsula.
