Middle East and North Africa weather: Heatwaves and thunderstorms

Multiple regions across the Middle East and North Africa are experiencing significant weather fluctuations. In Morocco, the General Directorate of Meteorology predicts hot to very hot weather in several regions, including the Loukkos, Gharb, Souss, and Saiss areas. Thunderstorms are expected over the Middle Atlas mountains, the northern part of the Eastern region, and parts of the Sahara. Temperatures in cities like Marrakech and Ouesрд may reach up to 45 degrees Celsius.

In Lebanon, summer weather prevails with temperatures above seasonal averages and high humidity on the coast. While temperatures are expected to rise slightly in the interior and coastal areas, a slight decrease is anticipated in the mountains.

In Palestine, weather services report intense heat in most areas, with temperatures remaining above the annual average. A gradual decrease in temperature is expected toward the weekend. Authorities have warned citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and to be cautious with fires in dry grass areas.

Jordan is also seeing high temperatures, particularly in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba regions, with maximum temperatures reaching the low 40s. A slight cooling trend is forecasted for the coming days.
