Kyiv missile strike kills 10 at defence industry exhibition

A Russian ballistic missile hit a venue hosting a defence‑industry exhibition on the outskirts of Kyiv in late July 2024. Ukrainian authorities reported at least ten fatalities and close to one hundred injuries, with extensive damage to the industrial site and nearby residential buildings.

Rescue crews searched through rubble, established triage stations and worked to restore utilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the event, saying it was “completely unacceptable” to hold large‑scale weapons exhibitions near civilian areas during wartime. He blamed the Russian strike and warned that such gatherings should not be organised under current combat conditions.

Russia’s defence ministry claimed the attack targeted drone developers and manufacturers present at the show, asserting the strike was aimed at Ukrainian and foreign‑produced unmanned‑air‑system personnel.
