Tencent expands AI offerings with HarmonyOS Yuanbao and new translation app

Tencent has expanded its artificial intelligence ecosystem with the launch of the HarmonyOS version of its Yuanbao AI assistant and the release of the ‘Tencent Hy Translation’ app.

The HarmonyOS version of Yuanbao features the new Hunyuan Hy4 preview model, which is designed for complex logical planning and long-chain task understanding. It includes an ‘Expert Mode’ that provides deep, structured reasoning rather than simple answers. Key features include document parsing for 36 formats, image recognition, photo translation, and AI writing. The assistant also integrates high-value content from the Tencent ecosystem, such as WeChat Official Accounts and Video Accounts.

Additionally, Tencent announced the launch of the ‘Tencent Hy Translation’ app, available on mobile, mini-programs, plugins, and PC. Powered by the Hy-MT2 translation model, the service supports mutual translation across 33 languages, including five Chinese minority languages and dialects. The app offers voice, photo, and offline translation modes and has launched in 12 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
