Tencent launches WorkBuddy AI co‑writing feature for documents

On July 30, Tencent announced a major upgrade to its WorkBuddy tool, introducing a "human‑AI double writing" capability. The feature integrates AI directly into both Tencent Docs and local Office files such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Markdown, allowing users to select text, tables, images or slides and give natural‑language instructions to the AI. The AI then edits the document in place, with changes instantly visible and synchronised for all collaborators.

WorkBuddy now supports real‑time multi‑user collaboration, letting teams work alongside the same AI partner across Windows, macOS, HarmonyOS and Android platforms. The upgrade also links with other Tencent services, including Tencent Meeting, Tencent Netdisk and TAPD, positioning the tool as an AI‑native office system that combines "people, AI and machine" collaboration in a single workflow.
