Tennessee coach evaluates quarterback options ahead of Arkansas game

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel is evaluating his quarterback options ahead of the Volunteers' upcoming road game against Arkansas. Heupel indicated that there is no guarantee that five-star freshman Faizon Brandon will retain his starting role.

Brandon, who started the first five games of the season, was benched during the second quarter of last week’s 24-14 victory over Auburn. During his time on the field in that game, Brandon completed 3-of-8 passes for zero yards and one interception. His performance follows a difficult loss to Texas on September 26, where he was sacked 10 times and appeared to suffer a right shoulder injury.

Backup George MacIntyre has begun receiving first-team repetitions in practice. In recent practice sessions, MacIntyre completed 8 of 10 passes for 86 yards. Heupel noted that while Brandon has struggled, MacIntyre has performed well in his limited opportunities.
