Tennessee sees 10% population rise and major job growth amid new manufacturing projects

The State of Tennessee’s population reached 7.32 million by July 2025, a rise of more than 10 % over the past decade and placing the state among the nation’s top ten migration destinations. Nashville added 9,244 residents between July 2024 and July 2025, bringing its total to over 721,000, while suburbs such as Lebanon, Spring Hill, Clarksville, Rutherford County and Murfreesboro recorded the strongest growth rates since 2020.

Since 2020, Tennessee has created 280,429 non‑farm jobs, driving the fastest labor‑force and employment expansion of any Southeast state. Large‑scale investments include Ultium Cells’ $2.3 billion battery‑cell manufacturing facility in Spring Hill and projects by LG Chem, underscoring the state’s appeal to energy, advanced‑manufacturing and automotive sectors.
