Tennessee teenager charged after tackling middle school football player

A 16-year-old girl faces assault and disorderly conduct charges after storming the field during a middle school football game in Franklin County, Tennessee. The incident occurred during a matchup between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School at Franklin County High School.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the teenager was a spectator who jumped the fence and tackled a 13-year-old player following a minor scuffle between players. Reports indicate the girl hit the player a second time and taunted him before coaches intervened. The game was immediately halted and the stadium was cleared.

No injuries were reported. The teenager was taken into custody and released to her parents. In addition to criminal charges, she has been permanently banned from all Franklin County School System properties. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has also barred her from attending any Cornersville Middle School games for one year.
