Tennessee teenager charged after tackling middle school football player
A 16-year-old Tennessee teenager, Addison Hunnicutt, has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct following a viral incident at a middle school football game in Winchester. The confrontation occurred during a game between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School at Franklin County High School.
According to authorities, Hunnicutt ran onto the field after a scuffle broke out between players following a touchdown. Video footage shows her tackling a 13-year-old South Middle School player and pushing him back toward the turf as he attempted to stand up. The incident caused the game to end early.
Hunnicutt stated she intervened because she believed her younger brother was being targeted and unfairly treated by opposing players. She claimed she saw a player grab her brother’s face mask and hit him in the ribs, leading her to decide, “Somebody has to stop this.”
