Tepatitlán FC eliminated from Liga Expansión MX playoffs

Tepatitlán FC has been mathematically eliminated from the Apertura 2026 Liga Expansión MX Liguilla following a 4-1 defeat against Tapatío. This loss marks a significant decline for the Jalisco-based club, which recently secured both the Clausura 2026 title and the Campeón de Campeones 2025-26 trophy.

The team's struggles follow a complete roster overhaul after a change in ownership. Mako Yáñez, formerly the owner of both Racing de Veracruz and Tepatitlán, sold the club, resulting in none of the 45 players from the championship season remaining on the current squad. Tepatitlán currently sits at the bottom of the standings with 7 points.

In other league developments, Tapatío's victory has impacted the standings, pushing Correcaminos down to tenth place. Correcaminos currently holds 16 points and remains within two units of a qualification spot with three matches remaining in the tournament.
