Teradyne Robotics sues JAKA over patent infringement

Teradyne Robotics A/S has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the German subsidiary of the Chinese robotics manufacturer JAKA. The legal action is being conducted through the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Copenhagen.

The dispute concerns patents held by Teradyne Robotics, specifically those related to Universal Robots, a major producer of industrial collaborative robots. The allegations involve both hardware designs and software solutions utilized in various JAKA robot models sold within the European Union.

Jean-Pierre Hathout, President of Teradyne Robotics Group, stated that the company is committed to enforcing its intellectual property rights against what it describes as illegal and unfair copying. This marks the second major IP infringement case brought by Teradyne Robotics in Europe in 2026, following a previous dispute involving software copyrights with another robotics manufacturer.
