Italy allocates funds for school safety and administrative upgrades
Various Italian regions are implementing significant funding for school infrastructure and administrative support. In Teramo, the provincial administration is utilizing approximately €1.16 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to upgrade fire safety systems at five high schools, including the Rosa, Di Poppa, Einstein, Zoli, and Moretti institutes.
In Perugia, over €592,000 has been allocated as an advance on earthquake recovery funds to begin seismic upgrades and energy efficiency projects at the IPC Pascal gymnasium and ITIS Volta laboratories. Additionally, construction has begun at the Ignazio Silone primary school in Sant'Erminio, part of a larger €31 million reconstruction plan for municipal schools.
In Maniago, a €1.5 million project is underway at the Ipsia Torricelli institute to improve seismic safety and thermal insulation, with completion expected by March 2027. Furthermore, the Italian government has earmarked €5 million for 2026 to compensate school administrative staff for extraordinary workloads related to PNRR reporting and the management of substitute teacher rankings.
