Teramo social‑care workers strike over unpaid wages

On 26 June 2026 staff employed by the cooperatives Sanitalia and Assistenza 2000 at ASP 1 facilities in Teramo, Nereto and Civitella del Tronto began a one‑day strike. The action was called by multiple unions – FP CGIL Teramo, FISASCAT CISL Abruzzo Molise, UIL FPL Teramo, UGL Salute Teramo and NURSIND Teramo – citing partial payment of April salaries and the failure to pay the subsequent month's wages. The unions say the dispute threatens the economic well‑being of hundreds of workers and their families and could affect the continuity and quality of care for elderly residents.

The protest includes a static demonstration in front of the Teramo Government Palace from 10:00 to 12:30. While essential services are to be maintained under law, the strike highlights broader concerns about contract management, after the Abruzzo regional administrative court (TAR) recently annulled a nearly €30 million procurement for ASP 1 social‑assistance services. Union representatives are urging institutions and the public to support the demonstration and are seeking an immediate resolution through dialogue.
