Teramo woman victimized by online romance scammer

A 41-year-old man born in Nice has been sentenced for conducting an online romance scam against a 43-year-old woman from Teramo. Using the alias Daniel De Rossi, the man posed as a chef in Villa Vomano on Instagram, building a fake relationship involving promises of marriage and children.

After establishing intimacy without ever meeting in person, the man began requesting money for various emergencies, including fuel, a new phone, and restaurant expenses. The victim transferred approximately 1,000 euros via Postepay. When the man failed to show up for scheduled meetings, he claimed to be hospitalized following a serious car accident.

The woman reported the incident to the police, leading to a trial. The defendant was sentenced to six months of suspended imprisonment and a 150-euro fine. The judge also ordered a 2,500-euro compensation payment to the victim.
