Online romance scam in Teramo
Overview
A 41-year-old man was sentenced for conducting an online romance scam against a woman in Teramo. Using the alias ‘Daniel De Rossi’ on Instagram, the man posed as a chef to build a fake relationship involving promises of marriage.
After establishing intimacy, the man requested approximately 1,000 euros for various emergencies, such as fuel and restaurant expenses. When he failed to meet the victim in person, he claimed to have been hospitalized following a car accident. The defendant received a sentence of six months of suspended imprisonment, a 150-euro fine, and was ordered to pay 2,500 euros in compensation to the victim.
