Two Maremma Dogs Die in Boscotrecase Kennel Amid Abuse Allegations
Maya, a 5‑year‑old Maremma, and Bianchina, a 10‑year‑old, died while housed at the “The Dog Park” kennel in Boscotrecase, Naples province. Both dogs had been owned by Michele, a former shepherd of Monte Faito who died in April 2025, and were transferred to the kennel after being captured in the Vico Equense area.
Volunteer animal activist Tiziana Adolescente warned local authorities for months about the dogs’ deteriorating condition and the lack of ownership transfer. Kennel manager Domenico Perna had reassured her on 13 July that the animals were "benissimo," but the activist later reported that Maya died on 24 June "morta di dispiacere" and Bianchina on 15 July.
Following the activist’s social‑media videos, officials carried out an urgent inspection of the kennel on 16 July. Adolescente has called for the release of ownership documents for all of Michele’s dogs and for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the two deaths.
