Terras Gauda develops liquid fertilizer from grape pomace

The winery Terras Gauda has successfully completed a four-year research project titled ‘Rebiovines’, which transforms grape pomace into a liquid bio-stimulant. Developed in collaboration with the Chilean producer Viña Concha y Toro, this liquid fertilizer can be applied directly through drip irrigation systems, serving as a sustainable alternative to traditional mineral fertilizers.

Conducted in partnership with the University of Vigo, the study tested the liquid vermicompost on 7.25 hectares of Albariño and Caíño vineyards in O Rosal. Results from three growing seasons indicate that the application improves soil microbiota, plant health, and grape productivity. Furthermore, blind tastings suggested that the quality of the final wine produced from these vines remains high or improved compared to those using conventional fertilizers.
